One of the best things about a professional garage floor coating is how little you have to do to get ready. We handle the heavy lifting — grinding, repair, and coating — but a little prep on your end makes install day faster and gets you the most finished floor for your money. Here’s a simple checklist for Cincinnati-area homeowners.
The short version: empty the garage, give us clear access and a working outlet, and plan where to park during the cure. That’s really it — we take care of the rest.
1. Clear the floor completely
Everything sitting on the slab needs to come off it so we can grind and coat wall-to-wall. That includes:
- Cars, motorcycles, bikes, and trailers
- Storage shelving, tool chests, and freezers (anything resting on the floor)
- Trash cans, lawn equipment, and seasonal items
- Rugs, mats, and cardboard that may have stuck to the concrete
Wall-mounted cabinets and items hung off the floor can usually stay. If you can’t move something heavy, let us know ahead of time and we’ll plan around it.
2. Don’t worry about deep cleaning
You don’t need to scrub, degrease, or pressure-wash the slab — our diamond grinding mechanically removes old coatings, sealers, dirt, and surface oil far better than cleaning by hand. A quick sweep is plenty. If you have heavy oil stains, just point them out so we can give that area extra attention.
3. Make sure we have access and power
- A clear path from the driveway into the garage on install day.
- A working electrical outlet (interior or exterior) for our grinding and prep equipment.
- Pets and kids kept clear of the work area — grinding is dusty and the coatings have a short open-air window.
4. Plan the cure window
The biggest thing to plan for is where your vehicles go while the floor cures. With a fast-curing polyaspartic system, most floors are walk-on ready the same evening and ready to park on in about 24 hours — epoxy takes longer. We’ll give you the exact timing for your floor before we start.
5. Think about color before the day
